Workshop program

 

Wednesday 19 oktober Workshop program

 

The workshop program IKAR-CISA 2011 in Åre has 8 different workshop stations and the participants can choose to visit 4 of them under the day.

IKAR-CISA Åre 2011 want to present a workshopday with more of "handson" workshops in smaller gruops.

 

You can registrate your choices of workshop when you arrive to Åre, until Tuesday evening.

For participating in the nr 1 workshop "Certus" you must announce your participation before you arrive to the congress on email: info@ikar-cisa2011.org.

 

If you select workshop nr 2 Accident Prevention Workshop you can selct 2 others because nr 2 is a 4 hour meeting.

Otherwise you can select 4 workshops under the whole day.

 

Program

 

 

1.Projekt Certus

( Day exursion)

 

A visit to Östersund and a guided tour of how we coordinate / administer the mountain rescue operations in Sweden. Certus is based on a common location of both the police, fire / rescue / emergency service / ambulance and medical advice. We also handle ” Crisis Communication Central” in cooperation with all units. This is all based on a courteous cooperation, on behalf of the best for all citizens.


- Target


For people in decision-making positions and coordinator of emergency services.
This workshop will take all day incl. transport .

 

2. Accident Prevention Workshop

( 4 hours, 1 time wednesday morning)

 
The aim for the workshop is to start a discussion if it could be possible to develop a generic information system for accident prevention that is targeted towards different target groups and would be
applicable for all IKAR countries.
 
The workshop will begin with input from 5 speakers from different parts of the world, wich will describe the conditions in each country,  what the challenges are, how they work with definitions of target groups and how to target their messages towards the different target groups.
 
The key concept to discuss in small groups will be

A) What are the audiences we have in each country and from which countries are the target groups?
B) In what ways can we reach the core target groups?
C) How would an international prevention systems look like in order to function independently of the country?
 
- Presentations from each of the groups.
- The workshop ends with a plenary discussion
 
Output from the workshop:
 
A result from the workshop will act as a working document that show how the first draft of system of categorisation of activities and standardisation to disseminate the relevant information to relevant target audience. Evaluation and adjustment of the system will be made in the follow up conference 2012.
 
 

 

3. Rescue operation small teams
(2 hours, 4 times)

 

We will show the personal equipment that mountain rescuer uses during missions winter and summer period.
Snowmobiles, rescue sleds, heat tents and communications equipment.
The alpine mountain rescue shows off his equipment. Small teams (2-3 pers.), light equipment and long distance.

 

4. Workshop Transceivers
(2 hours, 4 times)

 

Personnel: Henrik Andersson appoints space for each manufacturer and 3 mountain rescuers who speaks German, respectively French. You go in the opposite language group and each manufacturer will get 10 minutes on himself to present their news. This takes about 1 hour. It is then practical exercises for 1 hour where you can then go back to the post that you are interested in.
Material: - Signs for each station
- Party tents with coffee and buns
- Electricity, bench tables, etc.
- 100 plates to hide beacons etc.

 

5. Workshop Electronic Equipment for ex. Recco, Airbags, GPS.
(2 hours, 4 times)

 


Time: As above Staff: the approach of group 4. Rickard appointed places.
-Party tent will be standing between group 4 and 5.

 

6. and 7. Hypothermia and Trauma Cold injuries.
(2 hours, 4 times each).


Hypothermia and frostbite: Demonstration in cold chamber, prevention and treatment. (ICAR MEDCOM in cooperation with UIAA MEDCOM). The plan is: Two presentations. 1. Frost bite by MD. Dave Hillebrand, 2. Accidental hypothermia-field care by MD. Otto Henriksson and MD. Peter Lundgren. About 30 min each.
After the presentations there will be opportunities to try different ways to prevent and treat hypothermia and frostbites in a cold chamber. We ask the participants to bring along the equipment used in their countries to the work shop.


Trauma: Primary survey, splinting/traction in mountain accidents (ICAR MEDCOM). The plan is: One presentation: Why traction? By MD PhD (ort surgeon) Jan Sandegard After the presentation there will be opportunities to try different traction splints. We ask the participants to bring along the equipment used for splinting and traction in their countries to the workshop.

 

8. Dog handling / Helicopter workshop
(2 hours, 4 times).


Demonstration of a rescue team with Avalanche dog and helicopter rescue.
